Fishin' for Whit

Formed in 2015 in honor of Whitney Mitchell.

Whit’s Initiative was formed in 2015 to honor the amazing life of Whitney Mitchell. Whitney’s goal in life was to make a positive impact on the life of every person she met. Her favorite motto was “The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you.” At the young age of 22, and just as she was beginning her own business in the cosmetology industry, her life was cut short due to a tragic car wreck. Whitney’s family formed Whit’s Initiative to carry on Whitney’s dream to touch lives, make a difference, and live with a purpose. Our mission statement is: “To promote any charitable cause that will empower individuals, both young and old, to become responsible, educated contributors to society.” We are a 501(c)(3) corporation that donates to mental health organizations, youth sports, youth agriculture projects, soup kitchens, individual business grants, as well as partnering with other non-profits to help fight childhood cancer. With each financial decision, the board asks, “Is this what Whitney would want?” If yes, then we try our best to meet the need. To memorialize Whitney’s love of fishing, our annual fundraiser is a fishing tournament. We make money once a year, give it away, and do it again the next year. Whit’s Initiative is a small non-profit but we make a BIG difference in the lives we touch thanks to all our faithful supporters.
